Nationwide Waterway Cleanup: The 50-50-50 Challenge®

We are seeking partners and sponsors who care about the environment, want to make a huge difference, and are looking for national PR and goodwill. H2O Trash Patrol has committed to a 50 state challenge to spread the message of One Simple Change, and we would love to have your help in making it happen. And here’s why:
An estimated 14 BILLION pounds of trash is dumped into the ocean each year worldwide. That’s about 38 MILLION pounds per day! To say trash is an epic global problem is an understatement, and it’s NOT just a coastal issue. The trash is coming from everywhere and every one. In the US alone, 246 million pounds of plastic is consumed on a daily basis. About 24 million pounds of that ends up in the ocean each day! H2O Trash Patrol was founded with the mission to reduce the amount of trash in the waterways and oceans through actively cleaning up waterways and spreading awareness of this overwhelming man-made problem. That’s why we’re setting out on a national marine debris awareness campaign called the 50-50-50 State Challenge, where we will be doing 50 waterway cleanups in 50 states in 50 days! And the awareness doesn’t stop there! We are also making a documentary of the entire trip to demonstrate the problem of marine debris and the easiest solution of making One Simple Change that everyone can do to make a difference. The documentary will spread the message to tens of thousands more people. And by spreading the awareness, we can make an even bigger impact on reducing the amount of trash that makes it into the oceans each year.
Time is of the essence for this amazing project! This high energy, entertaining adventure will begin in San Diego, California. The 50-50-50 Challenge will attract attention in all 50 states. Each of the 50 cleanups will consist of two full hours of debris removal from at least one waterway in each state. In addition, the challenge will be documented via high-definition video and photography to be later made into a high quality documentary.
We would like to offer you the opportunity to be a part of this unique challenge and documentary. Sponsorship of the 50-50-50 Challenge (“The Challenge”) provides a great marketing and PR prospect for your company throughout the United States. In addition to the exciting and unusual nature of our challenge, there will be a large spectator presence in various locations through planned, publicized events and on-site media attention. This is a great chance for your company to gain a positive association with an environmental campaign that promotes taking action, building hope, and raising awareness of the serious state of our oceans and waterways. The Challenge will attract thousands of spectators over the course of the event and tens of thousands beyond through the documentary.
Pre-, During & Post- Events
As a sponsor of The Challenge, you will have the opportunity to promote your company in-person. There will be a Launch Cleanup & Expo, and a welcome home event at locations TBD. Events will be held along route, but due to the nature of road travel, dates and locations will be announced one to three weeks in advance.
Who We Are
H2O Trash Patrol is a registered 501c3 nonprofit corporation in California. We officially incorporated as a nonprofit in 2011 to provide marine debris removal services to public and private waterways and to build awareness and education of the presence of marine debris and ways in which to reduce the environmental and human health impacts. H2O Trash Patrol was originally founded by the Diaz Family: Lorenzo (an avid surfer), Patti (aquatic biologist/conservationist), and their three children, Jasmin, Diego and Nicolai. Their passion for keeping the beaches clean and safe for children and marine animals complemented by their love of stand up paddleboarding, recognized the need for a more intensive focus on removing marine debris from the waterways. And thus, began H2O Trash Patrol, a unique nonprofit with volunteer and community outreach that focuses on environmental education and cleaning waterways with leaving little to no carbon footprint.
The Challenge is a nationwide environmental public relations venture for sponsors. The intention of becoming a sponsor is to be associated with an environmental awareness campaign and to gain a positive nationwide public image during The Challenge as well as lasting exposure in the high quality documentary produced once The Challenge is complete.
How to Join in the Fun
Based on travel, incidentals, and post-production expenses, we estimate our minimum financial budget will be at $100,000. Below we have listed ways to participate. We welcome your consideration of any or all of these requests. We appreciate your participation as a donor or sponsor, particularly in identifying benefits that H2O Trash Patrol and The Challenge can provide in return for your company support. Your Company will benefit from the following via cash or in-kind product donations/sponsorships.
To Make The Challenge a Success
We are seeking a Recreational Vehicle (sleeps min. 5-6) to drive through the lower 48 States, a donation/sponsorship of $20,000 worth of gasoline, roundtrip airfare donations/sponsorship to fly The Challenge crew to Alaska and Hawaii to complete the final two waterway cleanups, cleanup gear, a film crew, and food and drink sponsors.
Title Sponsorship
This is the highest level of involvement. For a minimum donation of $50,000 cash/product, Your Company receives the following opportunities:
- Title listing in all media coverage includes radio, television, newspaper, and video documentation and credits.
- Title listing on the documentary title and credits.
- Vehicle Decal: Your Company logo/name will be given top billing as the Title Sponsor on The ChallengeRV. Vehicle Decals are viewed by thousands of spectators on the road as well as at each of the Lower 48 State Cleanups, and are most likely to appear in documentary video, photographs, and local and national media coverage.
- Logo promotion: Your Company logo will be given top billing and distinctly displayed as Title Sponsor on The Challenge collateral, including documentary discs, H2O Trash Patrol website & Facebook, press releases, posters, flyers and other promotional materials.
- Sound promotion for Your Company will be presented on high profile local radio stations along route of The Challenge, and will be mentioned at frequent intervals throughout The Challenge.
- Prime location at on-site product display and sales opportunities for Your Company at the Launch Cleanup & Expo as well as the Welcome Home Party, plus displays at all planned, publicized events.
Gold Level Sponsorship
This is the premium level of involvement. For a minimum donation of $10,000 cash/product, Your Company receives the following opportunities:
- Media coverage includes radio, television, newspaper, and video documentation and credits.
- Vehicle Decal: Your Company logo/name will be prominently displayed on The Challenge RV. Vehicle Decals are viewed by thousands of spectators on the road as well as at each of the Lower 48 State Cleanups, and are most likely to appear in documentary video, photographs, and local and national mediacoverage.
- Logo promotion: Your Company logo will be distinctly displayed on The Challenge collateral, includingdocumentary discs, H2O Trash Patrol website & Facebook, press releases, posters, flyers and otherpromotional materials.
- Sound promotion for Your Company will be presented on high profile local radio stations along route ofThe Challenge, and will be mentioned at frequent intervals throughout The Challenge.

For a minimum donation of $5,000 cash/product, Your Company receives the following opportunities:
- Your Company logo/name banners/decal prominently displayed.
- Your Company listed in video documentation and credits.

- On-site product display and sales opportunities for Your Company at the Launch Cleanup & Expo as wellas the Welcome Home Party.Bronze Sponsorship OpportunityFor a minimum donation of $1,000 cash and/or:
a) donation of your company product to assist The Challenge crew en route and/or during Waterway Cleanups, and/or
b) merchandise to be used as giveaways to public participants who join in on any Waterway Cleanups, and/or c) products to be used throughout The Challenge.
Your Company receives the following opportunities.- Logo promotion: Your Company logo will be distinctly displayed on The Challenge collateral, including documentary discs, H2O Trash Patrol website & Facebook, posters, flyers and other promotional materials.
- Your Company listed in video documentation and credits.
